Paper titled "Architectures for Deep Web data extraction and integration" authored by Witold Abramowicz, Dominik Flejter and Tomasz Kaczmarek was accepted for presentation at ISAT 2007 conference.

A paper, authored by Witold Abramowicz, Dominik Flejter, Tomasz Kaczmarek and Marek Kowalkiewicz, describing in details DWDI application and underlying formalism based on finite state transducers was submitted today to 8th International Conference on Web Information Systems Engineering (WISE 2007).

The abstract of the submitted paper is as follows: "In this paper we present a Deep Web sources description formalism, based on Finite State Machines (FSM) theory, and analyze its applicability to the task of automatic navigation of complex Deep Web sources with a particular focus on form-based ones. We demonstrate how FSM-driven navigation and XPath-based extraction of data records can be combined to provide a robust mechanism for Deep Web data access. We also underline importance of the presented approach for information integration from dispersed Web sources."

Tomasz Kaczmarek and Dominik Flejter will give a talk on Deep Web data extraction and integration on Thursday, May, 24th at the 1st Open Research Seminar of Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The abstract of this talks is as follows:

"Deep Web, as Web interfaces to databases, is a vast and largely unexplored source of information nowadays. Lack of automated methods to access these databases was one of the impediments to wider adoption of Deep Web data for decision support. Information about products, enterprises and organizations is dispersed and their aggregation is labour intensive, requires human expertise and therefore is costly. Hence the need for methods and tools capable of automated retrieval and data integration. In the article we discuss selected aspects of identification of Deep Web data sources, preparation to automated data retrieval and information integration. The concepts and results presented facilitate using Deep Web resources, thus giving decision makers better information about enterprises and their environment."
